» Poem: The Forgotten
The Forgotten
written by insanebitch2000
11:53 AM 10/6/04
Through the darkness, no shinning light
Within the blackness of the night
Sits a girl with a tear streaked face and solemn grin
Lines of mascara running from cheek to chin
Falling gently to her chest
Trying desperately to keep her mind at rest
She clings to lost hopes and shattered dreams
Broken promises and crushed esteem
Writing to herself at night
Trying eagerly to make things right
Cries of sadness flood the room
Over her head hangs a cloud of gloom
She places herself in others' hands
Caring all to much for others' plans
She's labeled and picked on
Soon all her pain will be gone
She sits alone with her goals in mind
Slowly she opens the can of turpentine
She locks the door and covers the crack
Turns out the light and then lies back
She breathes in deeply
Slowly she begins weeping
She closer her eyes and begins to think
"Will anyone miss me? How long will this room stink?"
"I wonder if they'll notice I'm gone."
The clock strikes six loud and long
She leans her head against the wall
Says her good byes once and for all
She writes a note and pins it to herself
The note was short but a cry for help:
"Now I'm gone, are you happy?
I'm here no longer to be you lackey.
I'm done with your cruel jokes
No more crying, no more notes.
I tried to make you see
And yet you kept ignoring me
I hope you're happy now that I'm gone
Go ahead; I know you'll live on.
If maybe you'd given me time
I'd still be here, and not in your mind.
I'll haunt your dreams with the cries you ignored
Sleep well all for you'll hear me no more."
