» Poem: burning on the inside
burning on the inside
written by trulybroken57

my soul is charred,
burned away slowly
in this
firelit darkness.
i can see past
those blackened eyes,
faded with time.
behind the fire
is a dying soul,
yearning to be free.
as i walk
over the scorching coals,
i hear the
strangled yell of a
lost soul.
how could i have forgotten?
why should i care
that on day
soon that will be me?
but i keep walking,
away from the fire,
and yet my soul
is still burning.
i am called,
still i go.
i am needed,
still i go.
i am loved,
now i stay
to burn in
this fire
forever
