Eclipse of Sorrow

The moon illuminates my path...
Guides me unto the black lagoon,
The trees are wicked reaching out for me...
Their vines trying to ensnare any,
Their fruit beautiful to the eye, but deadly to the core...
The ground moans and sinks underneath my steps...
The sound of damned spirits wandering all around me,
Their eyes are about me as I proceed...
The moonlight shifts, and the entire world seems to change,
Then my path is finally revealed...
I see the blackened stone in the distance,
I slowly go forth... always vigilant...
A lonely spirit playing his flute...
A soft sad melody... It's beauty is unrivaled,
It brings tears to my eyes... Then I see it...
The ghastly figure approaching me,
Standing tall the wandering spirit of an ancient warrior...
Covered in tattered armor, A shredded cape, A broad sword in his grip...
Stained with blood from ages before mine...
His eyes sparkle with a cold light,
He approaches me and asks which way to find his family...
I look down at the ground realizing what has happened,
"I do not know where they lie...."
Instantly tears of dust burst from his eyes...
He weeps with a bitter spirit and a mournful soul,
For now he will never again see the family he never got to know...
An ethereal figure appears and whisks him away,
I become weak in my knees, ready to collapse…
Then I realize how much time has elapsed,
I make haste towards my destination...
Finally I am here....
I reach the gravestone... hesitant to come near,
I sit down in front of it... on my knees,
and on it this headstone it reads:
"here lies Arelis Rakinushi, Wife to Kairi Rakinushi,
Born: October 17th, 1492 Died: February 5th, 1567 "may she rest in peace…”
My heart is broken, incomplete…
And it will never again be whole until they day you come back to me,
Until that day… Rest well… My darling wife…
