the angel of our despair

her test of love proved a lie
she is broken now, alone and forlorn
all because she felt man's scorn
do you see the angel? the one that crys?
she is sitting there wondering why
humans wallow in the gloom, suffering hate
she wonders why they question their fate
do you see the angel? the one who is lost?
she wonders what would be the cost
to make them understand, make them see
why their pain happens to be
do you see the angel? the one who fears
she is afraid mankind will drown in their tears
she is afraid they will curse heaven because they ask why
instead of looking to the world they created, the place they lie
the angel tries to help but there is no hope
she cannot keep the entire world afloat
she is tired now, she needs our assistance
she is giving up now because there is no repentance
the angel wipes away her final tear
she gives up those foolish fears
she would have died for us, but she finally learned
humans are selfish and for this we will burn |
