End of line

mr gramps took me down to his fishing hole.
It didn't really matter much what we did.
I didn't even have a pole.
So with a pocket knife he'd widdle on a stick,
and tie some line on the end of it.
He said now kid, there ya go, man I could catch them fish!
I caught a big one this time...
I think I have a plenty amount of line...
My grandpa caught a big one this time.
Not just fishing...my grandpa did it all.
He even taught be how to play some baseball.
He said watch the ball and keep your eye on it,
He promised if I did I'd get a hit.
So he pitched that ball and I closed my eyes,
swung real hard and to my grandpas surprise.
That ball was layin 10 feet in front of me,
as I was headin for first...happy as could be!
I hit a big one this time...
I think I got a little bit of line...
My grandpa helped a big one this time.
One thing my Grandpa had taught me,
was to trust in god, and he will set your soul free.
Learn from other what ya don't want to be,
it's the good in people is what you should see.
One day my Grandpa fell off to sleep.
Pray the lord his soul to keep.
Now I often think back to when I was a kid.
And that old stick pole and the things we did.
I lost a big one this time..
I think I have ran flat out of line..
My grandpa lost a big one this time..
With a tear I watched that old stick pole, reach the end of line. |
