» Poem: Past the Facade
Past the Facade
written by lost_and_forgotten
01:29 AM 3/11/05
Look at me, no, really look.
Gaze deep into my eyes and read into the depths of my soul.
Understand me, get me,
Accept me.
Figure out who I am underneath this facade
And then, only then, can you tell me that you love me.
For what you think is love now
Isn't
And it can never be so until you truely know me for me.
So, Lover, I tell you now
If you want us to last
You better push aside your fear,
Your ignorance,
And your naive ways
And peer into the dark of my heart
In search of a slowly smothering light
And you better embrace it.
Oh, how you must care for it
Because, Lover, that flame can so easily extinguish
And be gone forever,
Leaving only more darkness
That can never be given back to light.
Once you discover what's past the facade
Then you can say that you love me.
