» Poem: Renouncing Duration
Renouncing Duration
written by cryptic_misery
02:52 AM 3/21/05
Light the tapers
And give into this moment
Hold your solid mass of tallow,
This gradual decrease
In thickness of this diffused wax wand
Withholding the flame from branding me
Until I can feel the heat singe away
On my surface
Staring into the fire
The glowy scorch of light and pain
Pressed together to form this rapid oxidation
Until the candle decelerates against my skin
I abandon my life, renouncing my duration
And when the flicker finally goes out and stops
So does the rest of me...
