Simply Alone

Simply alone
If I were without you
I would be a flower without petals
And in the evening
I would be a blank night sky with no stars to shine
If I couldn't feel your hand tightly gripped in my own
I would have nothing to hold when I cry
On our wedding day
If you ever left my side I wouldn't be able
To make it on my own
All euphoria would die and heaven would sink
Below the dark depths of this abyss
There would be no emotion in any heart of any kind
There would be no strength or courage of a white tiger
Keeping itself locked inside a cage of fear and flesh
No feeling of fury or anger of a fluffy predator
Wanting to bounce about on the ground before striking its prey.
If you disappeared the ground would crack and become unstable
All roses would die black and each heart would die blue
If I were without you
The sea would have no fish
The sky would have no enemies such as the bullet
From a machine of war
And above all things if you were gone
I would lay still, with beaten bones and loss of all blood
Silently stiff with a pale stare of wonder
Above the highest cloud
Simply alone.
