the cave (part one)
written by Schizophrenic_broken06:30 PM 1/11/05I stepped inside. A rat. I screamed. My voice echoed around again and again. It bounced off the edges of the cave. Like an everlasting piercing scream. A sound that I had heard before. A scream of death. This cave echoed pain and death. I’d been here before. I stepped forwards. Slowly, like in a trance. I gasped, I needed air, thee cave was suffocating me, drowning, swallowing me. Then it stopped, everything was calm once again. I spun around to leave. There was no opening.
I had no choice, I had to continue further, further in the deep, dark oblivion. And there she was. Hell herself stared me in the eye, glaring, cursing, killing me. I shrank back in to the vicious darkness. I threw myself down behind a large solid object. Trembling, I peered up through a mass of battered cobwebs, I could see the girl. Her hair was white; grey, twisted like little wraps of cobweb. Her skin, watery and transparent was stretched over an array of festering bones. But her eyes. They shone proudly like a light from the shadow of her decrepit body. Deep purple a light inviting me to reach and touch her soul. Her evil broken soul.
I had to get out, one more second here I would explode. I glanced around and there in a far off corner, there was a small dappled pool of light. I tried to edge closer, see where the light was coming from and then I saw it. Behind the thorn like stalagmites and stalactites was a ruby. A ruby the size of my head. A huge glistening ruby. It was red but off it danced brilliantly evil beads of crimson light. Evil blood like ray hitting the huge needles that hung from the ceiling and reared up from the cursed ground.
The light was pulling me in, drawing me away from reality. Once again I was dragged into the evil trance like state. I felt fragile and unprotected against the frightful whispering from the rank musty smelling cave walls. I tried to scream, reach out and pull myself back but my mouth was dry and my throat was tight. Again I felt suffocated and I collapsed, hitting the damp dirty floor with a swallowed thud. Then it was calm. The ruby was blank, unwelcoming and the light had ceased flowing from it. Yet as I probed between the tugging, teasing needles towards the great ruby I saw something dripping from it, crimson blood, bee’s swarming from their ruby hive. The blood of the cave, the hatred of the world.
Again, I screamed. Emotion overpowered me and I sunk to the blood-wet floor. I wanted, more than anything to get out. To be free of this hell, to be free of my evil death reigning prison. Suddenly I smelt something. A new poison over throwing my senses. Then something moved, out of the corner of my eye I saw a shadowed figure coming closer. I wove back to the safety of my large rock and large-cloaked figure. |
