In The Dark

when the world around me becomes too much
and my demons come out to feast on me again
There are times when I'm hopeless
when I'm too lost to return home
and no, I don't need your comforting touch
I just need to be left alone
To grieve for my faded pleasures
Quietly in the dark
To miss the sweet smell of you
And the relieving of anxiety in the sound of your voice
Giving me hope i know i cant hold on to
So, don't offer me a friendly hand
Nor a tender embrace of love
Just let me surround myself with sorrow
And let my troubles swallow me whole
Don't try to save me when I can't be saved
And keep your encouraging words for another day
A day when the tides of my heart have changed
When my soul flows the other direction
But until that time remember that I think of you
And that you're still the keeper of my empty heart
But for the moment love is not my friend
Your laughter is like salt to my open and aching wound
So let me be
Let me sit alone in the dark
Let me find comfort in forgotten lusts
Let me bandage my heart with solitude
And dry my tears with time
I dont know if you understand
I pray that you'll return
I long for when I can emerge from this dark hour
So I can hear your laughter without pain
And cherish the time we shared
And finally look into your soft eyes and not shutter in fear. . . |

to the man I should have revealed myself to. Only friends, yeah, thats how its starts, but I regret never giving him my heart. So scared of the rejection. And on the last day of school, he tells me of a love he felt. One kiss to seal the wound. Then why do I still bleed of this memory? to Jacob Staggs, the keeper of my still-shattered heart. . .
