» Poem: A Perfect Shell
A Perfect Shell
written by Poetic_Decay

Cast away your sadness.
Make it soft and darker still
to float upon the ravens wing
and soar and wheel higher up, until
oblivion may still the frantic wing
and bleed away this heartfelt thing

Spew forth your darkness,
the beast that lurks within
let it rear its ugly head
and rage with tooth and claw
gyring, writhing to and fro
until, broken it crashes to the floor.

Hang your mask upon the wall
and droop your wilten head.
May the icy winter shatter your heart
and numb be in skins stead.
Reach out your weary hand
and fold cold limbs one by one
into one another to form
a perfect shell.
