» Poem: black angel, white God |
black angel, white God
written by omegadrax11:02 PM 5/27/04is my life a summer's day
with winter on the way?
am i wise to cautiously wait
or fierce to search out my fate?
should grab life and make my demand
or bow to those strong with command?
if i rest and bask in beautiful paradise
will the mighty look upon me and despise?
the lord is my master releasing me from want
but, yet man's creation created to taunt.
to see the rod and staff should comfort me,
but the scars are still there, though hard to see.
and yet, by heaven, his love i do need.
he gave me this life on which i feed.
he gave me the task of being where i have to be
and gave me structure, beauty, and symmetry.
i fear my death in being black and bold.
forgive me, it is not desirable to be so cold.
and despite God, i shall fear more after death,
for if i dwell with my lord upon my dying breath,
who will i be when he gives me the nod?
a black angel standing before a white God
