Ordinary Day, Extraordinary Pain
written by Fallen Beauty03:24 AM 10/9/04Just an ordinary day
In her ordinary life.
But that day, to her dismay,
Would be just the beginning,
Of a world of strife.
It was a total surprise
When the paramedics came.
Tears filled her gray-blue eyes
For there was nothing to do,
No one to blame.
No one had suspected
A heart attack in his time to come.
But the truth could not be rejected:
“He may die”
A thought that stuck to her like gum.
First the emergency room,
Then the operating bed,
All their hearts filled with gloom
As his arteries were replaced
And the doctor cleaned the blood so red.
His kidneys were failing,
His knees giving way,
Using his cane and the railing
He got better and better
Day by day.
He was getting better, the last time she saw
She hears more good news, frequently.
Oh, by the way, the man was her grandpa,
And the girl who suffered and cried
Was me. |
