Just Too Much
written by Fallen Beauty03:26 AM 10/9/04When will it ever stop?
The broken hearts and tear-filled eyes
The sorrow, pain, and hateful lies
Have filled us to the top.
Material things can make us happy
But Dora dolls and Power Men
Can’t love us back like family and friends can.
You know it’s true, even if it sounds sappy.
Too many loved ones have lost their lives.
Too many have suffered and broken hearts
Too many have hurt and left many more empty and tart.
Too few have stuck around to console their cries.
If we look back at all the harm done
We see agony, stress, misery,
But we don’t enough see cheer, bliss, or gaiety.
Only torture to run from.
Not all things in life hurt more than a punch,
Many can be vivacious and full of glee.
But many more things are heart-wrenching and wintry.
Many more is too much, though, just too much.
We have focused our lives on the drab.
We centered ourselves around hearts smarting
And darlings and dears and all of their partings,
Because these things clamp on like claws of a crab.
Daily more death, or nearly, for that matter.
When will it end? Will anything ever console us?
It never ends, nothing consoles those suffer and fuss.
It just keeps going up, like a never-ending ladder.
What are we to do? Who do we turn to?
All we can do is vent…vent and pray
For we must trust God, in every way, every day.
We must trust Him, both me and you.
I could go on forever, explaining suffering and such.
We all could do with a good pain-emitting
Before the torment continues the hitting
Because, you see, it’s all just too much. |
