» Poem: Ode To Marines
Ode To Marines
written by Fallen Beauty
04:12 AM 10/9/04
Green camies, big boots,
Big muscles, like trees with strong roots.
Risking their lives, day by day,
Training for battle in every way.

You owe them a lot, we all do.
Because without marines we’d be English still, too.
Honorable soldiers, courageous marines,
Have to go everywhere from Iraq to the Philippines.

We don’t think about them enough,
We don’t consider how their lives are so rough.
Just the thought that you may not be alive tomorrow
Brings a pang of immediate sorrow.

Did you ever stop to think,
“Gee, life in the Marine Corps can end in a wink”?
Who knows when you’ll be sent out to war?
Who knows when you’ll have to deal with the gore?

So just for a bit, pray for these brave men,
Just for a minute, it doesn’t matter if it’s two or ten,
They deserve all the love and prayer they can get,
So just show them you care, and they won’t forget
