Shadows

Why don't they go away?
The encompass me and drown me
I am scared of them today
Why don't they engulf me
And get rid of all my pain?
For then I know I can sleep
For they wont hurt me again
I see them almost everywhere
They creep around at night
They touch me and I shiver
For they give me an almighty fright
Those shadows are my worst dreams
Those shadows are always there
For they are everywhere that light doesn't touch
And I don't think it's fair
And now I lay me down to sleep
I watch those shadows don't creep, into bed
For I know that the very next morning there is
I would wind up very much dead |
