high in the sky
written by Poison Ivy01:02 AM 10/21/04| The dark, the dark. The thoughts, the thoughts. The detached memories of us playing hide and seek. The mindless and endless games of fun. Pretending to fly, high in the sky hoping that it will really happen. And that there will be no coming down. Should we lie to our youth, and say that the world is one big smile? Where will that get them? To tell them to grow up and be just like daddy. When sometimes, some of us don’t know what a daddy really is. Mommy kisses our boo-boos and everything is better. So why isn’t mommy always there to kiss away the pain? Because the world isn’t a smile at all. It doesn’t even have a face. And if it did, the last thing it would be is a smile. So why encourage our children to be happy and naive? Because the only happy moments we hold on to, is that inner child. That little laughter that never shuts up. The complaining of the tattle tale shit. “He took my bear!” “She got my lolly pop dirty!” Where does it end? Until we shatter their tiny hearts when telling them to shut the fuck up. But why ruin a heart like that? Because it happened to us? No. Because we don’t want to be reminded of how we were when we were children. To be reminded of the fun filled summer games and hide and seek. Pretending to fly high in the sky and never come down. And forget all the times we tattled on our kindergarten crushes. . . |
