» Poem: The only one who ever cared
The only one who ever cared
written by ieatsmellysocks

When it was still dark outside
The grass wet with last nights rain
It was early morning and
I was sitting there in pain

He was the only one to say hello
The only one to smile
The only one to make
Coming here a little more worthwhile

Everyone else walked right by
Only he asked if I was ok
Everyone else just ignored me
But I didn’t care cause he made my friggin’ day

Sitting in class,trying to work
The guy behind me keeps being a jerk
He helped me he’s always there
The only one who ever cared

He saw my bruises and my bleeding arm
I saw the worried look on his face
I knew he expected that I would self harm
And all day in class I stared into space

Asked a lot if I was ok
Got used to it after a few days
He was nice to me and always there
The only one who ever cared

The weeks passed,smile after smile
I learned something about him after a while
He had known my secret the whole time
The reason why nothing is fine

Looked at him in a different way
Tried to avoid him, wanted him to stay away
Until something happened on a cold winters day
I was alone he asked if I was ok

There I was rocking back and forth
Shaking and trying not to cry
There he was, looking worried
Looking like I might all of a sudden die

No matter what he was always there
The only one who ever cared
I learned a lot from him just like he learned from me
The only one that was ever nice to me

It was cold outside, the wind stinging my eye
I was walking alone trying not to cry
But then I wasn’t alone cause he was there
The only one who ever cared
