» Poem: Her Facade
Her Facade
written by annachibi
05:30 AM 6/13/04
I walk in silent shadows.
I creep, and pounce, and fly.
I howl unto the willows,
until I make them cry.
The hunters fling their arrows,
but I will never die.
Of who I am, no one knows.
No, not a soul, but I.

If you should find me waiting,
between the Dawn and Eve,
touch not your bow, I tell thee,
if you would rather live.
I have the gift to read you;
your mind is like a sieve.
You have nothing to offer,
and I have naught to give.

You cannot bind the Blackness,
nor can you bind the Light.
Morning will bring the Gladness,
and I must take to flight.
But She can't kill Her Darkness,
though She will always fight.
Her first tear falls for Sadness,
and signals time for Night.

If you should see Her crying,
deny is what She'll do,
for Joy does not like fighting,
so sometimes She will lose.
Ashamed to admit hurting,
She'd rather no one knew,
that I am always calling,
and I am coming soon.

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
August 15th, 2003. This is my absolute favorite out of all my poems. I tried to make it into iambic pentameter, but it's not quite. It has some sort of meter, but I'm not sure exactly what it would be called. I just like it. It has several meanings; each stanza introduces a different idea, as I see it. There's no definite interpretation.
