» Poem: Death in the Wind
Death in the Wind
written by annachibi

You don't know it's following you,
Just waiting to strike soon.
Your ears are deaf to the evil hiss
That precedes its death-kiss.

Can you... Can you hear it?
Can you hear the death in the wind?
Can you... Can you resist it?
It's waiting just around the bend.

If for no one else, do this thing for me,
Don't, don't let this be the end, please.

Close your ears, block your mind tightly
It only begins to whisper quietly
But the beat of your heart becomes a drum.
Too soon, the song of death has been sung.

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
From March 16th, 2004. A song from the "Underworld" soundtrack inspired this one. I didn't have the song titles since I borrowed it from a friend, so I was just making up titles that I thought fit. "Can You Hear the Death in the Wind?" was one title, and it sounded so lovely that I decided to write a poem about the idea. ^_^
