Tape and Glue

with broken promises,
trying to be fixed with tape and glue
knowing how easily they can be broken again,
instead of giving your heart time to heal
he says what you want to hear,
and pulls out the tape and makes a quick fix
with more promises, soon to be broken,
the the cycle starts all over again,
never stopping, never a word heard,
sitting there letting out all your feelings
all the anger, and all the hurt you express
that one needs to hear, and
needs to realize, doesn't let the words sink in
just letting his words smooth everything over
letting the glue hold it together for now.
but putting your heart on the line
isn't worth it, for someone who doesn't realize
what they really have, until it's too late
all the tape and glue in the world
could never heal the heart thats been broken,
too many times, or take back the million tears
that fell for him. Give your heart time to heal
and clear your mind, so you can truely think.
I know you're not worth the quick fixes
of tape and glue. Make sure you really know
whether this is all worth it, before you take another step forward.
does this guy deserve your heart?
even with his wondering eyes?
I hope he's the one for you,
and I hope you're happy,
but don't settle for his words
to smooth the tape over, or his broken promises
to let the glue set.
Throw away the tape and glue, and start
your relationship anew |
