» Poem: "Friends, stick around awhile."
"Friends, stick around awhile."

There is a man who thinks
his shit doesn't stink.
He waltzes in to every room
with a "cam't touch this" 'tude.
And one, just one day you hope,
someone knocks him off of his rope,
and he falls so high from the sky,
to where we dwell on the ground
and find what we've found
that not every one cares
what everyone wears.
And that no one gives a shit,
but he will admit
that he does
and that what he was
isn't what he wants to be now.
All the people will say, "wow!"
How did he open his mind?
Did the old him resign?
Will he ever be back
with the same devote knack
for sticking his nose so high in the air
that birds made his nostrils their lair?
Will he never again spit a rude comment
or pound a guy's head in to the cement?
Then you hope the guy smiles,
and says "Friends, stick around awhile."
The old me is gone for good
and the reasons for which I stood
are following it down the drain,
along with the pain and hate I contained.
But all of this is manifested in your mind.
He's so very good at walking the line.
And when it's all said and done
and he's so near the sun
that his tight rope in the sky,
breaks apart and he dies,
he may have been cool,
But he was also alone.
