Essance of the Broken

Always taking the darkest roads
Moving ever towards the light
Never able to feel its warmth
Have you felt the chill of the dead
To know their thirst for your life
It is with my every turn and step
Something never to be escaped
What I have lost and never gained
Tainted even my darkened soul
I looked within to it's darkened glow
I saw no light nor reflection there
Everything darkened farther than black
Pain and suffering al it knows
Countless misdeeds I have done
Countless more yet to claim
Cannot deny what I have become
I will not change what I am
Hated by many, loved by few
Essance of a broken man
The mind of a child, body of a man
Never knowing what love was
Realizing I was born damned
What is this evil thing I see
Staring from the mirror
I no longer know who it is
No longer recognize this creature
So much has changed since my past
Much has yet to befall the future
Now you see what lies within
All the things I have inside
Now answer me one small thing
How much does one need suffer
Before they can find sweet release? |
