I am nothing

you always knew existed
though existing I am nothing
trust you have in that
you can wait forever
for nothing is eternal
you can trust in me
for I'll be here nowhere
those who seek escape
claim to chase my harbor
but there you cannot enjoy me
as I am empty sanctum
nothing is my promise
as I am without a' thing
I'll wait here for you now
and be here 'til the end
I know you'll find the time
to stave me off again
for waiting 'til it ends
means nothing had naught yet
no one can reach inside
and give up their last hope
as commiting this is last
you cannot break your fate
I seek to know your soul
like so many who have tried
for you to grant me everything
you must give in to nothing
and this you strive in time
never to know my touch
and yet you seek me rest
with the solitude I bring
I once embraced you close
but I didn't let you feel
what I wanted you to know
you never knew you knew |
