looking back

memories recalled
hearts intact
years ago it once seemed
i once called you
yesterday?
it couldn't be
but it was you i once held onto
it was then i called your name aloud
but you never heard
your thoughts in a cloud
could you have cared?
i wondered standing there
you forgot the most important thought
the moment you awoke from that stare
you called me in your dreams
a mirror reflecting pain
and when you left i asked myself
when will i see you again
centuries now it seems
a time forgotten except in my dreams
there was someone i could see
so clearly once in reality
