forgotten child*

She stands in the corner out of sight away from the other children. She hides in the shadows watching their games seeing how they get along so well. She hides out of sight wondering if she was to be like them would they remember her name. Would they see her again? In class she sits alone no partner to work with. No note passing under the table. No questions asked. Her teacher has forgotten her along with the children. At home she watches her family from outside in the cold she stands waiting for them to ask why she isn’t home from school? Why her room isn’t clean. She stands in the cold feet dragging in the mud she watches her family go through their daily tasks. She stands for hours just waiting for them to remember what day it is. A single tear falls down her deathly white face as she realises they have forgotten her. Alone and forgotten she is walk for eternity.
