» Poem: Muse Part II
Muse Part II
written by Lothiriel
01:28 AM 12/20/04
The Devil’s Serpent watches over the moonlit view
of the Angelic creature and her guise
Claws tracked to the tree lined surface of gravel and grime
from which he has spurt forth in his wake
He spat upon the soil of green
The trees, they recoiled in repulsion
shriveling and dying away
He cocked his head but to one side, listening
“The Muse, She says,” and He spat again
the shimmering bright colors before him
radiated upon His raw, scaled flesh
Putrid steam rose of his breath
as the glint in his eyes repelled the light
For he knew no good, he knew no love
Only the admirable worship of His Lord
And the deeds that must be fulfilled this eve

He snaked and scaled through the underbrush
Acidic fumes left in his wake
The nearer he came, the more he reeked of loathing

“Ahhh, but She does spin a tale so irrevocably scathing,
She has them under Her spell, She speaks translucently.
She makes them believe that all is but well and fine
And the darkness of days is long since forgotten…”

Without moving so much as a twitch,
He spat sidelong where glitter floated
above the fresh green leaves that promised spring
He snarled as the leaves befell the beautiful creature
Cinders of ash and putrid fume wafted through the air

He then raised himself upon his hind legs
silently, stealthily
So tall was He
that the trees were but inchlets beneath Him
The field of stars spoke of scattering
And the moon itself, cracked and shattering
Spilling down upon them all
a waterfall of pale shards
As though the trumpet of an Angel
burst from magnificent prayer

She wailed into the winds,
Her cry lost in the wickedness
He sprang forth,
showering the valley in all of the wretchedness
in which He brought forth,
straight from the entrails of Hell
“Go! Go now I say! For the Under Lord is come!”

He heard this and gnashed out, lashing the horns of his tail
bringing but more sweet willows to their knees
And all scattered
All was lost in a petrifying silence
None looked back to the horrendous scene in their wake

The songbirds would die
And twilight’s newborn son would cry
For all seemed astray on this mournful eve
