last beating of my heart

you said you were sorry,
and wanted me back.
outside i was screaming,
"no! you can't have me back,
you hurt me enough.
fuck you.
you're just messing with my head!"
but inside i was screaming,
"no, no shut up!
what are you saying!?
this is what you wanted.
just take him back,
its not like it can get any worse."
but i did not listen to the voice inside my head.
i listened to the last beating of my heart,
as it fell to the ground,
and shattered to pieces. |
