Alone
written by CemetaryDrive11:47 PM 12/24/04I'm an onlooker of the galaxies. The place where most reside, but not me. After being created I was cast aside to have a view of others, yet never being able to join them. As I gaze around I notice a few others like me, carelessly forgotten. In the dark vacuum of space, I am my only warmth. And a vacuum it is, swallowing and diminishing any hopes or dreams I have, into the dark abyss of the unknown where I stand.
I do not wish to be crammed along, and suffocate with the group, No, I long for another or few, something other than the dim glow of those who are also outcasts of their home. Sometimes I find a breath of relief from those passers by that come a select few times in my existence. I may be a twinkle in someones eye, but only the eye of those who cast me so coldly. I'm only a glint in a malicious set of eyes that find pleasure in trying to tear me apart.
For years I've tried to fight it. I was a fiery, angry flame would burn and break anything that came near. Not only those who tormented me, but those who wanted to help as well. My own rebellious self finally came to see my error. Slowly I dimmed my fury, so now I am cold and distant. Quickly the others lost interest in pushing me away.
So it brings me to where I am. Lost and forgotten in a dark plane of space where I am only used as a wishing star of some outcast of society such as myself.
My personality is the icy aurora given off. It works quite well to get rid of everyone and everything that tries to venture near. Soon all of the passers-by stopped coming near. So now I am left by myself in the dormant dark vacuum of life. The light radiating off each star is the happiness on is supposed to experience, while the icy glare given off is the harsh reality of life.
So does this mean I chose to ignore the fruits of life and reject anyone that comes near? No, wasn't I cast this far away by others? I can not answer why I'm here and why i was created to be alone. I'm not my own god. So I must serve my purpose without knowing it, what else may I do? |
