» Poem: I Called You My Best Friend...
I Called You My Best Friend...
written by soimpossible1339

You always said you'd be right there
As we laughed and giggled without a care
But now when I'm lost, down, and alone
Where the hell are you hiding as I'm calling your phone
The constant, loud ringing echos through my ears
As I sit, shaking, behind thousands of tears
For the hundreds of times, you called me your best friend
I knew when it all was over, you'd be gone in the end
For the thousands of laughs, for fun nights that we had
Now I'm sitting regretful, crying and mad
How the fuck did I trust you? Why the hell did I care?
I knew, deep down in my heart, that you'd never be there
Now as I sit here, with my pen in my hand
Writing this poem, with my feet in the sand
I sit on the beach, as I stare into the night
And wonder how in the beginning, I thought this was all so right
My friend I bid farewell, because you know it is true
From the beginning, to the end, I meant nothing to you

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
It's kind of amature... with all the rhyming and whatnot... I prefer freeverse... but I started rhyming and couldn't really stop... I'm new to poetry, but find it a good way to let everything out...
