All Things Gone
written by stumpyfratboy02:42 AM 1/25/05How can they stand
With fake smiles on their faces?
Can they not see what lies ahead,
Just a couple paces?
Trouble lives, just 'round the bend
Brought on by their lies
All things which I love are ending,
Meeting their demise.
Thoughts, too, are slowly dying.
All memories shall fade.
All these people, all around
Shall soon be not but shade.
Those I love are slowly leaving,
Their lives obscured by night.
Heaven descends in a cloud of hope,
Yet hope bids me no light.
One I love, perhaps the most,
Has all but gone for good.
All that's left is an empty shell,
Where that perfect soul once stood
I miss that soul so dearly now.
The warmth the heart contained.
Yet these are held in darkness,
To walls of shadow chained.
I hear a laugh so full, so strong,
That echoed in these walls.
But darkness now obscures that mouth,
And naught but silence calls.
I try to evoke the joyous times
But to these I cannot hold.
All that has been left for me
Is a body, stiff and cold.
From all around, I'm offered hands,
Yet all I grasp is air.
Plastered smiles, all I see
This charade I cannot bear.
I tell myself I must move on,
It's time to just let go.
All emotion must be dropped,
Lest this dreaded feeling grow.
Have done things that I now regret,
I blame all upon this pain.
The steel must be stopped in hand
Or I shall have been in vain.
This has caused far too much pain,
Has only stoked my fears.
It has come time to take my leave,
I've cried too many tears. |

This is for my grandfather who basicly has alzheimers and doesnt know anything any more. The disease has taken him from me, and left in his stead a soul-less casing [ View stumpyfratboy's Profile ] [ Go to the Poetry Portal ] This Poem has been viewed 85 times
