» Poem: Glinda's Lament
Glinda's Lament
written by Drusilla

That bright light which burns so brightly isn't really there
What you see is merely a reflection of the person meant to be within the body that you daily see
Laughter and joy races off to help others despite the fact that there is none inside
Children cling and lovers follow only to jump back in fear
when they realize that there is no one inside
but a dark gaping hole with desires unfufilled that go unnoticed.
People love and hands touch, but the response is never real
Darkness reigns in such a dark body and few do understand
It burns as they try to open their eyes and see the darkness within
For as soon as they see they utter a scream and run off to places
that make sense to them and help to remember only the bright smile and the lithe limb
They then choose to see the evil in a person who is far from it
And I don't correct them
I let them label based on sight instead of on what is truely inside
It makes it easier on me to turn her into the monster that they want her to be
For if they saw the true monster they'd all be looking at me.
