» Poem: Memories
Memories

As I lie down on my bed,
Random memories come swirling into my room.
Painful, good, scary, anything.

Like the time I asked the boy I liked
Do dance with me at the fifth grade dance.
He turned me down, and I spent the rest of the dance crying.
Then my teacher came over and told me,
“Boys aren’t worth crying over.”

I remember when My brother used to try out
Wrestling moves on me.
We went outside on the trampoline
And he started flipping me over and pinning me down
With me shrieking with laughter.

Then all the liquor my mother hid all over the house.
She couldn’t stop, and she was ruining our lives.
Day after Christmas, she lost it.
She needed a straight-jacket.
Now with the help of her family and friends,
She made it through.

Eighth grade.
I was teased and bullied to no end.
The rest of the students hated me.
I had no friends.
But that’s where I met my boyfriend
Who I’m still with today.
So I guess everything has a reason.

Sophomore year in high school.
I made good friends.
I remember the time I was sitting on a bench
At lunch with my friend, and I heard a cow moo from a distance.
So I said,
“I wonder if I moo loud enough, cows will respond?”
My friend and I burst out laughing!

Last semester, my friend was in my first period.
So I wrote him a note, completely random, that said;
In space, no one can hear you moo.
We laughed so hard. Good moments.
So I guess you can tell what one of my favorite animals is, huh?

I’ve had many memories.
I’m sure to have more.
Good, bad, scary, embarrassing,
And so on.

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
The poem is kind of plain, not very descriptive. I'm not very good at poetry, more a fiction person, but I just wanted to share this.
