Dreams of Reality
written by Drusilla04:21 AM 1/28/05Call it as you see it
Breathe it as you dream it
Ideas that wash through you
Don't let them get too close
Can't let them drown you
One must try to live in reality
The more I try to see it
The less I tend to believe it
It once wrapped around the other way
But that was back when I still knew what to say
Before the barbed wire wrapped around my throat
Back when I could still breathe
That was when I could still dream
Now I close my eyes and all I see is the face of that which repressed me
I try to laugh and it leers
I try to dream and it steals my fears for it games
I run and it follows
I scream and it laughs
I vow to stay away and still I come
It wasn't what I wanted or needed
And still I crave this venom for my soul
This poison which I so freely choose to drink
Daily I long to live the life I once held so dear
The life I lived before jumping into the sea of dreams
That sea which pulls you in so tightly before you have the chance to take your last gaping breath
Once inside there is no branch of sanity to cling to
Lost hope lies in the realm of reality long ago left |
