The man who fell
written by piperneedshelp03:30 AM 1/31/05i work with a man...
his name is Dan
this man is always happy
even on a day that should be crappy
if someone needs help
hes always the first to call
he will fill you with advice or spins to make it seem better
i asked him why
and he told me this:
"when i wake up in the morning
i know i have two choices
to make it a good day, or a bad one
i choose to make it a good one
every desition has two choices
and i choose to take the better one"
then i asked him, "how did you get this way?"
"there was one day
when i fell from a building"
i asked him, "werent you scared?"
he told me, "yes, i was. the paramedics came
they were great, telling me i'd be fine
but the doctors, when i was rolled in
i read on their face i was already dead
but i knew i had a choice:
i could choose to live, or i could choose to die.
i chose to live
a woman was shooting questions at me,
one of which was, "are you allergic to anything?"
to which i responded, "yes!!"
everyone went silent, waiting for me to continue
i shouted with force, "GRAVITY!!!"
through all their laughter, i continued with,
"opperate on me as if i'm alive, not dead"
and they did. and to this day, that attitude is important to me
it made me live"
i left that day, knowing i had a choice
and from that day, my choice is to have a good day. |
