» Poem: Holding Me Down
Holding Me Down

Whenever I'm almost done,
You are standing right there.
You stand in front of me,
Your eyes covered by your dark hair.
You spread your arms out wide,
Inviting me in,
And when I hug you in return,
You fool me again.
You are always holding me down,
Pulling out my breath,
And it feels like I'm going to drown,
When you hit the air out of my chest.
Whenever I'm at the finish line,
And just a step away,
You come running from behind me,
And push me so I delay.
Please let me out,
I'm locked in you,
And no matter how much I scream,
It just doesn't do.
You're holding me down,
And I can't escape.
No matter how hard I hit,
I just can't push away.
