» Poem: Symbolism
Symbolism
written by Dhirsti

i'm looking at this flower in my hand
it's just begun to blossom
the petals are so soft, like velvet
pale, like the reflection of a clouded moon on a lake
life was just beginning for this flower until it was plucked
now, you give this flower to me
a soft white unblossomed rose
a symbol of pure innocent love
but to me it symbolizes a loss
a lost pureness, stolen life
a chance taken away never to be returned
do you know this?
is that why you're giving this flower to me?
one flower, one life
and now as i accept this flower i'm realizing i must accept my life
i will save this flower
so that i will always remember this time in my life
