Don't Turn Around

and you've lost it all
and everything is out of sight
just look in your heart
and you'll find a new start
no matter how hard it seems
if you're all alone
and noone's there for you
and you sit there and think of times gone by
believe me i know how it hurts inside
i've been there myself though forgetting i've tried
just put them in the past where they should be
once in awhile though, memories reoccur
when i hear a word,song or see that special place
and my eyes fell with flowing tears of pain
oh lord don't let me cry i say
let me hurt not another with remembrances today
please don't let me hurt someone except me
so let me learn to start over
let the pain fade away like the fog
it seems so thick and smothers me
then it's gone when i look over my shoulder
and i stand in the sun, not shadows where it's colder
so i'll learn now to begin with nothing
and maybe on that faraway yet nearby day
when i see you with someone else you adore
i won't think about those treasured but clouded days
i'll say i'm happy for you my dear
then i'll turn and walk away without a tear
and this time i won't look back |
