Flowers Show Nothing

About why they were given
Lest you leave a note
Telling the whole story
Roses mean nothing
When left scattered
On open grave
Apple blossoms falling
From trees in September wind
Floating gently to earth
To become one with
The dirt from where they came
This daisy I picked
Roughly from its home
Handed to you in April rain
Has long since wilted
Petals dropping to the desk
And nobody was left in our
Superficial relationship
To pick them back up |
