view through a crack

much too early.
i peek out.
the sun is there.
i can't see it,
but i know it is.
the blue sky
looks so nice.
clouds going by.
i only see one at a time.
the stores are opening.
i can't see them,
but i know the are.
cars speed by.
fast.
much too fast.
i close the shade.
you, my love,
are out there.
i can't see you,
but i know you are. |

as much as a man could love a city, i loved ann arbor. it breaks my heart to think about it even now.
