» Poem: I Love You, Alex Chilton
I Love You, Alex Chilton
written by TheTuneSmiths

Across the pavillion you sit and gaze
What's going on in the back of your mind?
There's an icy silence in the back of the room
I don't mean to meander thoughts from this cold
I just know that i'm yours and you're mine
I'm not very sure that this is how it is anymore
And I'm not sure how It started.

You claimed to love me and I know that it still seemed eerily unrequieted.
It turns out when you said I love you, you meant some crazy idea of me
For I am not me if I look inside myself
I am you.

You are but a stranger
How could I not have known this?
I know that this turf has been tread upon until it's brown and messy
Much like your hair...
Oh! The torturous beautiful lust surrounding a high-school crush!

I got the title from a Replacements song. Rowr, if I say so myself.
