» Poem: Lesson of Simplicity
Lesson of Simplicity

Sometimes we take for granted the things
that are considered small; the reason is we
really don't know what the small things consist of.
A kiss from your mother and father
before you go to sleep at night.
The triumph of our brothers
when they've won their last fight.
May we consider these things small
or do we place them in a box
labeled not relevant at all.
Did we forget about the moral values
our elders instilled in us?
For moral endowment dictates rules
or conduct which restrains our actions.
When will we begin to take heed to the small things?
After wishing we could have thanked our parents more
before placing flowers on their wooden box.
Or before putting our brothers down
because we have jealousy in our hearts,
because we value ourselves too much
and others too little.
The lesson of simplicity plays a major part.
