Teenage Anthem

Who I am.
And I'm confused,
Most of the time.
And what should I be,
On the outside,
To hide the turmoil within.
And can no one relate...
To me?
And I seem to fall in love,
So quickly.
And fall out of it...
So fast.
And I've crushed so many times,
That I'm nothing but powder...
And there's nothing...
I've gained from it all,
But a broken heart...
I'm forlorn and pessimistic,
I'm rude and I say I don't care,
I always speak my mind.
And it gets me in trouble.
And when I'm in public,
All these people...
Glance at me...
And they judge me,
Before they know me.
I'm deep,
Filled with murky waters,
And even I haven't seen,
The deepest depths.
I am an ocean
Underneath it all...
Somedays I'm sinking...
Other days I'm floating...
Never getting anywhere.
And I'm restless...
As I struggle,
Against these chains.
Each day is a fight,
For me to win...
Survival of the fittest.
To be the victor...
But more often than not,
I'm the vanquished.
I need solitude,
In this fast paced world.
And I can't completely...
Trust anyone.
Somedays not even myself.
I'll survive... though,
I do this every day.
I've done this before,
And I'll do it again. |
