behind you**comment**

I stay secret completely out of sight,
I follow your footsteps on the street,
I listen to the shuffles of your feet,
I stalk you past the shops, and over the back wall,
Waiting for you to stumble or even fall,
Your breath condenses in the air,
And the wind trails it through my hair,
You carry on, expecting nothing,
And so your steps reduce to lazy shuffling,
The night flashes off my teeth,
And twinkles off the jewels on my daggers sheath,
But still you do not see,
You don?t see the shadows you don?t see me,
Perspiration trickles down your neck,
As you struggle to keep your now rapid breathing in check,
But still I make no sound, no noise within the dark,
All you hear is a gate creaking and a lonely dog bark,
You feel your pulse come on fire,
And your body heat rises steadily higher,
I watch you through eyes that see all,
And my gaze seems to make your skin crawl,
I gain on you tensing my muscles drawing my knife,
Determined to kill you, to destroy your life,
The blade rings in the pitch black,
And I notice the muscles stiffen in your back,
You carry on trying to get to your home,
I can even hear the trembling of your bones,
I hear your blood roaring in your ears,
As you sense that something nasty nears,
Then, a crazy look on my face, I step from the shadows, from the night,
From, the dark, into the pale lamp light,
I see you freeze in your path, your breathing stops too,
And grinning madly I call, ?Look behind you!? |
