Closed Off

Like you don't even care
Sometimes it feels
Like you aren't really there
You're right in front of me
But so far away
If I were to take your hand
Would you want to stay?
If I were to hold you
Would you fall limp in my arms?
Or would you hold me too
And with me count the stars?
If I were to ask you
To stay here with me
And promise not to make me
Wonder where you'll be
Would you nod your head and kiss me
Just like you always do
Or look me in the eyes and lie
And tell me you're not blue?
You seem so closed off
While I sit here and wonder
The tears; they accompany me
Like lightning comes with thunder
You seem to look so happy
But at the same time so stressed out
Maybe if you would just tell me
What you're thinking about
I don't want to know everything
Only what's been bothering you
But the way you're so closed off
You seem to not want to tell the truth
Am I trying too hard?
Do I care too much?
Am I writing about a subject
I shouldn't have even touched?
I want to be here for you
I want you to know I care
But how can I show you I love you
If you're not even there? |
