» Poem: Midnight Flight
Midnight Flight
written by Broken Phoenix
12:26 AM 3/1/05
I'm flying so high
In the night sky
As stars and birds pass me by

I close my eyes and glide on the wind
Working on forgetting what I have sind
But I'm trapped like a butterfly that has been pined

I open them to see only moonlight
At 1:30 a.m. it's a beautiful sight
As it gets colder and colder at this miraculous height
I finally understand how I can take flight

A shooting star takes my eyes away from the moon
And not a moment too soon
As I see a row of roses about to bloom

I carefully glid down to the edge of the sea
There in my reflection, I can see who I can be
In the depths of my soul, I see me

Then I take off again into the black of the night
My heart in my chest feeling a alright
No longer am I full of fright

As I soar in the air
As if I have no care
I can't help but think that life is unfair

But as time passes by
And I continue to fly

Into the sunrise
And I come to realize
As I open my eyes

All becomes clearer
That on these midnight flights I'll meet you here
Where we can stare at our reflection in the shattered mirror

And as the clock tolls midnight
These sad black wings will take flight
As my heart and sprit are full of might

As the darkness fades to day light
It's here I end my midnight flight
