» Poem: This Ugly Fragile Thing
This Ugly Fragile Thing
written by breakmyheart

You've attacked me
These hands that used to
carress you
burn with humiliation
Shame
Guilt

It's a broken heart
that i've left in my wake.
Not knowing
Not realizing
That it might've been a life or death situation
I was too busy looking in fun house mirrors
to care.

I don't know,
and probably never will,
what it is that i'm looking for
But i'm sure that it's not
what we had.
Memories may keep us
But it won't always protect us.
In that one short moment
of carelessness,
we are dropped.
And like a fragile glass,
someone's beloved porcelain figure,
we smash on the cold stone.
We'd both shatter.

I thought it better to jump.
Save myself.
I couldn't bear the thought of being trapped
being caught in something for too long
It's better for one to be the scapegoat.
You can take over the burden
of what I've done.
I hand it to you,
wrapped in strips of your own heart.

This little death package.
Made with love and care.
