The wish~~Comments~~

There once was a man who was needy,
He had lived his whole life that way.
But he resolved to never be greedy,
And was happy to live another day.
Then one day, he was given a gift
For being so forgiving and kind.
At first he was a little miffed,
At what the giver had in mind.
Inside was a note that changed his world,
The giver would give him his wildest dream.
With that thought his mind unfurled
A thousand wish scheme.
‘I wish for a thousand wishes,’
The man yelled to the sky.
And so his wishes came to be,
Every single one.
But with each wish, he paid a fee,
His end had then begun.
For every little thing he wished for,
His heart was consumed by greed.
At his life, his greediness tore,
The wishes bounds, he did exceed.
The giver of this gift realized his mistake,
For men’s hearts are easily corrupted
By what they try to take,
And what they find avid.
He slowly used the thousand wishes
And tried to make his amends.
He bought old loved ones roses,
That turned to ash in his hands.
He died an old and lonely man,
Consumed by greed and hate.
So caution to all who try to withstand
Greediness will seal their fate.
