The Day Chad Slipped Away

In high school now, can't cry
Pick a table, any one, he thinks
But where should he sit? With the jocks? The Geeks?
The tray shakes in his white-knuckled grasp
What would they say? Would they all laugh?
Boldly he slips into a seat
His heart pounds
What will they think?
Then he feels something wet hit his back
The mashed potatoes stick with a sickening crack
A hush falls over the crowd
Then a giggle, not too quiet, not too loud
Fear rises inside him, can't will it away
They're all laughing now, and whispering his name
He quickly runs out the door, pain in his chest
All week they’ve taunted him, cant they give it a rest?
He gets home, goes to his room
Safe, for now at least, from tomorrows impending doom
He cant bare to think about what the next day will bring
All threw this heart wrenching torment he thinks,
Why me?
He sits up, opens a drawer
Pulls out a T magnum, .24
He holds the gun to his head
Pulls the trigger, and he’s dead |
