» Poem: War of the Roses
War of the Roses
written by Tessin
04:31 AM 3/3/05
Loyalties lie not with countries and not with gods in my eyes.
They lay not with the bounty of frauds we despise.
I swore my fealty to you when the stems were severed.
But things tend to change throughout my endeavors.
We were the roses of white, they were the roses of red.
And when we fought our Towton, before us they fled.
The snow was our ally to help with the rain.
and together we made it through all the pain.
But sides switch and people drift, and this does not seem to regress.
That was a wound and this is a wound and they are all wounds none-the-less.
You aren't you anymore, or maybe i'm not me anymore.
Whatever it is, we aren't we anymore.
In the road we were made to fork, now you are my Lancaster and I am your York.
And throughout I have given to you and you to me. And in the end of it all you'll prosper where I flee. You've been my red rose, and ive been you white.
But in the end you are Tudor of nay red rose nor white.
And though we see only from opposite sides,
you know where my true loyalty lies.
